Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect at my initial evaluation?
Your initial evaluation involves getting a detailed medical history and discussing current issues and
symptoms. Please be prepared to answer your provider’s questions. You and your provider will work together to create a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs. It may consist of medication options, recommendations for labs or other studies like EKG, referrals for psychotherapy, and, if needed, an assessment for a higher level of care. For example, if more intensive care or inpatient care is needed to appropriately address your symptoms, your provider will discuss higher-level treatment programs.
What therapeutic approach do you utilize?
The providers at Embrace Mental Health & Wellness emphasize the use of a patient-centered, therapeutic approach to help instill courage in patients, while acknowledging that change can be difficult. We utilize empowering methods to focus on helping people make positive, healthy changes.
Can you refill my medications before my next scheduled appointment?
Your prescriber at Embrace Mental Health & Wellness will typically provide prescriptions to last until the next scheduled appointment. We urge you to schedule your follow-up appointment before you conclude your visit so that you do not run out of your medications. In situations where you must cancel your scheduled appointment for a valid reason, the prescriber may provide a bridge refill as a one-time courtesy. It may seem inconvenient, but the best practice is to manage medications in person. We want to ensure that you are doing well, and getting the correct medications at the correct dose for your health condition.
For urgent care or emergencies, please go to the nearest emergency room.
What if I need a Prior Authorization for my medication?
Once we receive notification from your pharmacy that prior authorization is required, we will submit the necessary paperwork to your insurance company. Approval of the prior authorization from your insurance company may take up to 2 weeks.
Do you offer in-person appointments?
In-person visits are available for those patients who live in Virginia only at this time. All other appointments are being provided via telehealth.
What insurances are accepted?
At this time, Embrace Mental Health & Wellness is an in-network provider with Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, Optum EAP, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. If your plan allows for out-of-network benefits, we are able to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurer for reimbursement. Please keep the following in mind:
Your bill is based on the services you received. You are responsible for paying the bill if your insurance company does not cover all the costs.
What your health insurance covers is based on an agreement between the company, or person who employs you, and the insurance company.
It is the patient's responsibility to contact their insurance company with any questions about what they will cover. This includes referrals, eligibility, and benefit information.
